The route develops starting from Fontan Tempesta and following a path that runs along the Via dei Laghi to the roundabout where the La Foresta restaurant is located, from here you continue to climb the asphalt until you reach the panoramic point where you can admire the 2 lakes, for this reason also called "eyes of Jupiter". Leaving the viewpoint, after a few kilometers of asphalt, you take a downhill path that will lead you back to the starting point.
The route is about 13 km long and has a difference in height of about 330mt.
This mountain was so important because on its top stood the temple of Jupiter of Latium. Every year, at the temple, the Feriae Latinae were held, great celebrations in honor of this divinity, particularly important in Lazio. The road that went up the mountain to reach this sacred place therefore took the name of Via Sacra. And this same road was also traveled by the victorious generals who celebrated their triumph: for this reason it was also known as the triumphal road.
