Route Guide

Live an adventure experience. During this fantastic route of the Appia Antica, about 21km, you will meet tombs, ruins and mounds surrounded by greenery, until you reach one of the most beautiful lakes of the central Italy: Castel Gandolfo, as well as the Pope's summer residence. Enjoy Lake Albano and taste local specialties such as the porchetta sandwich, before returning to Rome Capannelle by train, and then cycling to the starting point.

Did you know?

In 398 BC, during the siege of Veii, the Romans, to regulate the water level of Lake Albano, dug a tunnel in the living rock for a kilometer and a half: the emissary, still visible today, is a great engineering work hydraulics.
