Via Appia is a mandatory destination for those who have both the passion for biking and an appreciation for art and culture. start discovering this route from the bicycl-e store on the Appia Antica, pacing at your rhythm until the Colosseum. since this is not a real and proper bike track, we recommend following this itinerary on a sunday because appia antica is closed to traffic. Ride among mausoleums, stadiums and sepulchres along with christian churches and catacombs before to arrive to the Center of Rome. Admire the Circus Maximus, the Imperial Forums and Piazza Venezia and make your way back to the regional park of Appia Antica which will give you unique emotions. Be careful, it is quite easy to fall, since some sections of the road aren't as paved as others; therefore we recommend to stay near the edge of the road and, especially near the large masses of roman pavement, get off the bicycle and continue on foot until the road becomes easy to travel on again.
The Appia Antica pavement system, later found on all the roads dated from the roman empire, was the first to use large blocks of stone that allowed the passage on any type of vehicle in all weather conditions.
